The  Shikhara is a traditional gondola type light rowing boat mostly seen on the ancient Dal Lake apart from other lakes. It is one of the most incredible and relaxing aspects of a holiday in Kashmir, and if you want to experience the full beauty of the region, it should be included in your itinerary. Along with the houseboat, it is also considered a cultural symbol. But apart from leisure and tourism purposes,  Shikhara is also used by locals for seaweed harvesting, fishing and transportation. Seeing these boats beautifully adorned on the lake is a treat for the eyes, and you should not miss this experience during your vacation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Located on the banks of the ancient Dal Lake, Shalimar Bagh is the largest Mughal garden in the Kashmir Valley and thus it is one of the most famous tourist attractions of Srinagar. Surrounded by tall poplar trees and many colourful flowers, Shalimar Bagh presents tourists with a serene atmosphere. It also boasts of a beautifully designed canal, which passes through the center of the garden, adding to its charm.

The main attraction of Shalimar Bagh is 'Chini Khanas'. In these 'Chini Khanas', oil lamps were lit at night, which produced glare. At the present time, however, these 'Khanas' are adorned with flower pots, which are also delightful.

The natural spring in this top attraction in Srinagar attracts the eyes of tourists. It believed to have been discovered by the great female saint Rupa Bhavani of Kashmir, spring got her name from her clan and was originally called 'Chashme Sahib'. Commissioned by Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan for his elder son, Dara Shikoh, Chashme Shahi was built by his governor Ali Mardan in 1632.

Chashme Shahi is a three-terraced garden through which flows the water of the natural spring.
